About Us

The home of Koolmundoola Appaloosas is Mundoola where Ian and Laina breed quality horses with a focus on temperament, conformation and health.  Mundoola is situated in Edenhope, approximately four hours from both Adelaide and Melbourne. It is here in the lush Wimmera region that the Koolmundoola Appaloosas are bred and trained.

As well as having lifelong experience as a horseman participating in many riding disciplines, Ian is an experienced educator having held senior positions in the Victorian Department of Education and Department of Primary Industries.  Over the years he has studied and researched equine behaviour and training methodologies. Currently he also runs Safe Horse Handling programs within the Victorian school system.

Laina has had a lifelong love of horses and, following a business career, is pursuing her passion of riding and training horses.

​

Ian's philosophy is that good horsemanship is about having a great relationship, which is also a partnership, with your horse.  To that end, Ian's focus is to breed and train quality horses and to provide ongoing educational horsemanship support to their owners.
