Koolmundoola Appaloosa Stud was established in 1971 by Appaloosa enthusiast John Kosch. Over the years Koolmundoola has become one of the oldest Appaloosa studs in Australia. The stud is now owned and managed by Ian Shaw and Laina De Winne.

The Koolmundoola Appaloosas are renowned for their verstility and the stud has produced some exceptional horses over the years that have competed in many disciplines. People continually comment on how stunningly beautiful; and how gentle and  easy to handle and train, the Koolmundoola Appaloosa horses are.
